What to Expect
Overview: Your Golden Bear Experience consists of four major components: Golden Bear Advising and Golden Bear Prep (both completed online, before you arrive) and Golden Bear Orientation and Getting Your Bearings (in-person programs, completed once you're here).
Review the two online modules you need to complete before you arrive on campus:
- Golden Bear Advising (mandatory): Covers campus academic resources, an introduction to your college, and how to enroll in your classes.
- Golden Bear Prep (mandatory): Gives you a comprehensive overview of UC Berkeley and your overall transition to campus.
The important thing to keep in mind is that this first part of your transition happens online. You connect with your academic adviser and learn about resources before you make the move to Berkeley.
How to Access Advising and Prep: You access these modules, including start and due dates, through your CalCentral account. Note: You do not need to register to take these modules (or for any part of the Golden Bear Experience). Simply follow the instructions in CalCentral.
What’s Required: You are expected to complete Golden Bear Advising and Golden Bear Prep online, prior to your arrival on campus. (Specific dates will be listed on the GBO Dates & Deadlines page.)
