Learn about 2021–22 Golden Bear Orientation.

All the staff and students in New Student Services enjoyed connecting with you during Golden Bear Orientation (GBO) last August or January.

And, although sophomores and transfer seniors were not eligible to participate in Golden Bear Orientation again this fall, we want to welcome you to participate in a variety of events that take into account your unique second year as a member of the Berkeley community.

Events Just for You: The Details!

  • Campus Tours

    • What: Take a tour of campus with other Fall 2020/Spring 2021 students! One tour will be held daily but will require advanced sign-up. Check your emails for the direct link. Sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis. Can’t make the time or have tours filled up? Consider taking the self guided tour with roommates or your GBO group from last year.

    • When: Tuesday, August 24–Monday, August 30, 11 a.m. daily (60-minute tour)

    • Where: Koret Visitor Center (California Memorial Stadium)

  • Cal 1 Card Pickup and Class of 2024/Transfer Class of 2022 Banner Signing

    • What: Bring a valid ID (drivers license, state ID, or passport) to pick up your Cal 1 Card and AC Transit Pass. While you are there, be sure to sign your Class of Banner; these will be hung at graduation!

    • When: August 23–27, 1-3 p.m. daily

    • Where: Lower Sproul Plaza

  • GBO Small Group Meetups

    • What: Connect with your GBO group to meet some familiar faces! We will assign GBO groups (from Fall 2020 and Spring 2021) a unique Saturday over the first three weeks of the semester to connect centrally on campus. Your Orientation Leader may not be able to join (they may have graduated!), but we will coordinate a central meetup location and provide ideas for activities. This is meant to be casual for you and your group; grab a meal, talk, explore the Berkeley farmers market, or explore campus together. You will get an email the week prior to your unique meet up with a specific location and ideas for activities.

    • When: GBO Groups 16–325 (Saturday, September 4), GBO Groups 326–499 (Saturday, September 11), GBO Groups 500–599 (Saturday, September 18)

    • Where: Initial meetup location shared in email to be sent week prior to meetup (Memorial Glade, VLSB Lawn, Faculty Glade)

  • Discount Tickets to 2021 Cal Football Home opener

    • What: Cheer on the Bears at the 2021 Cal Football Home opener vs. Nevada. Purchase $10 discount tickets (originally $22). Check your email for a direct link. *Limit one ticket per student, must have current Cal 1 Student ID and an active account via www.calbears.com/students. All sales are final, no returns or exchanges. Tickets cannot be resold, forwarded, or transferred.

    • When: Saturday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m.

    • Where: California Memorial Stadium

  • Large-scale Social Events

    • What: Join SUPERB, the campus programming board, at their Welcome Back concert.

    • When: August 27, 6-9 p.m.

    • Where: Lower Sproul Plaza

  • Events (hosted by campus departments and Registered Student Organizations)
