With any luck, the name Justin Kaito Church (he/they) will be on a Bachelors for Chemical Biology and Global Studies: Development in Asia at the end of this academic year. What that degree would not show includes the countless hours spent on student organizations, dominantly in music and policy-related clubs, and experiences, including research abroad and composing for orchestras, that he has been able to do in Berkeley. Throughout his journey at Cal, GBO has been a consistent community for him: he was involved as an Orientation Leader in 2021, and as an Orientation Mentor in 2022 and 2023. Kaito is now a student coordinator for NSS, and is excited to provide one of the first experiences new students are offered at Cal, and he hopes that GBO becomes a memory of growth and belonging.
